Against the odds, 40 Years ago on September 23rd, 1978, Evergreen from Royal Hamilton Yacht Club won the Canada’s Cup vs Terry Kohler and Agape from Bayview Yacht Club during the match point race. 

Crew: Don Green, Lowell North, Tim Stearn, Dave Downey, John Fitzpatrick, Ron Barr, Jim Talmage, Allan Megarry, Steve Killing, Fred Rowell & Dennis Aggus. Guest sailors: Rod Davis & Jim Marshall. 

Book: Against The Odds: The Incredible Story of Evergreen and the Canada’s Cup by Doug Hunter 

Sunk near City Island. It was Butch Ulmer who looked into it several years ago and found out what happened. Then when they were dredging the marina for expansion she was broken up. A sad ending to a remarkable and sophisticated boat.
