Notes

We built a few of them as after hours project in the custom shop Keith Buick project. Steve Glass July 2021

Actually, my recollection was that the Nutshell was an open dinghy not unlike the old Flying Junior. It was used in the Niagara-on-the-Lake Sailing Club Junior Club program and I believe was designed and built by George Hinterhoeller prior to the creation of C&C Yachts.

C & C Yachts 13' Nutshell, 1974

The Nutshell has a swing keel and a mahogany rudder. The deck has been recently painted with Duralux Marine paint and all wood has been varnished. 2 sets of sails (one original, the other by Elvstrom Sails), all rigging, a boat cover. Load Rite trailer with a 1,495 lb. capacity, new tires, spare and current registration. A fun and fast small sailboat in great condition that is very easy to rig and launch.

LOA: 13.17 ft.

Beam: 52"

Weight: 225 lbs.

Boats used this year were Vanguard 15s, 420s, a Laser Vago and Nutshells. For those unfamiliar the Nutshell is a 13' training dinghy designed and built by George Hinterhoeller over 40 years ago. This tubby little sloop is what most of our juniors learned in and they like to revisit their past.
