1944 - My Ideal Boat

How many kids get published at 15?  I doubt George H. Cuthbertson wanted the $200 award for the My Ideal Boat design competition in Boating Magazine, but it probably would have helped after his Father had passed away and the family had moved back to Toronto.  He had been submitting design’s to different magazines but this may be his first published design, the 30’ “ Wants Cruising Yawl”.

This was drawn on a drafting board Bob McLellan had made for him.  Uncle Bob was the shop teacher at Central Tech and Dad used this board, ever week, from an initial drafting board, to building model airplanes through midlife and half models later in life.

I’ve never found out if he won the contest, but I think we’ve all won from him and boy did he Help Make Boats Better
